every day personal items worth splurging on

As I have learned how true the saying “quality over quantity” is, I have taken my time in investing in GOOD quality every day products I use. I was once that woman that would buy something she liked because it was on sale . . . or maybe I liked it because it was on sale. While that idea still rings true for minor things such as the Target dollar section (I can’t ever seem to get away from that aisle), for most other areas of my spending, I have come to the realization that some items just are “worth the cost.”

While some of the items below may not work out for you, I hope they inspire you to find every day useful items you will LOVE!

the power of communication

I once took a course in college that focused on relationships and during class one day we were discussing the topic of overall “relationship effectiveness” (aka – what held a relationship together). Each corner of the room was labeled with a noun and we were asked to stand in the corner that we felt was most important for a relationship to have.

Trust. Honesty. Communication. Respect.

There were only eight of us in the class and I was the sole individual who stood in the third corner: Communication. While no answer was greater than the other, I can still picture my instructor grinning at my choice. Through discussion, we quickly all came to the conclusion that trust, honesty, and respect cannot exist without communication.

Every season, I find myself wanting to completely clean out my closet and start fresh. This spring season, I have a different goal in mind. I have a goal to become more of a minimalist with my wardrobe, keeping only classic, versatile, and comfortable items. This includes accessories. One accessory I simply cannot live without is a watch because, well, they are practical! My favorite watches by far are the JORD wood watches.

everyday purse must haves

anytime you leave the house, there are those “must have” items that you just can’t go anywhere without.  as women we tend to need much more than men, but personally i’m okay that.  I kind of love the look on my husbands face when he asks for or wants a drink of my water, a piece of gum, my chap stick, tissues, or my phone charger. I know everyone has different ideas of what they think they need, or lets be honest, how heavy you want your purse to feel but i wanted to quickly share what i have on hand in my purse on a daily basis! i love learning about what others keep in their purse so that i can find new products to try; therefore, i hope you find something mentioned below to be just what you have been looking for!

favorites of 2017

i feel like the year of 2017 was a year of firsts and favorites. first time home owner. first gray hair (thanks a lot miller). first time actually enjoying a beer. first stretch mark. first time being “the patients spouse” vs being the nurse. first iced breve. first time pumping in the middle of a crowded U2 concert (yes . . . i specifically wore a cardigan so that i didn’t have the leave the concert to pump). first time parent. a majority of these “firsts” have quickly become some of my new favorites . . . besides the gray hair.

A Year to Remember

Let me tell you, this past year has been one to remember. After much discussion, prayer, and feeling lead in one direction, Brian and I started 2016 by packing up our entire town home and moving a state over to relocate beginning a new adventure in our marriage. Was moving an easy decision? No. Did I spend months and months crying wondering if we made the right move? Yes. Did I trust God and my husband? Yes.

Rose Petal Perfect

I do not know about you but, I am attracted to anything neutral . . . clothing wise that is! If you were to look into my closet, you’d find mostly black, white, tan, grey, olive green and hints of teal. I am pretty predictable. So when I instantly loved this “rose petal” (cranberry) cardigan I was excited to find a top to match it perfectly!

Never Enough Boyfriends

Over the past year I have found a new love for “boyfriend” fit jeans! I seem to always be drawn to them for their comfort. Labeled as a medium high rise, relaxed fit, and skinny leg opening, these boyfriend pants are the ultimate boyfriend every girl needs!

Better days are coming

I’ll be honest. My heart isn’t here today. My heart hurts. My heart wants to be with one of my closest friends who is soon to be at the feet of Jesus. I am so selfishly sad I will never hear her precious laugh again, but I am so joyously happy she is soon to be with her husband, loved ones, and especially our Lord!

Knowing I still wanted to share a fun post with you all today, I felt today’s outfit was fitting for how my heart is currently feeling. This outfit, as you see, is perfect for those when all you can think about is . . . the weekend.

With the new Harry Potter book coming out this week I thought it would be the perfect time to share this Harry Potter inspired DIY Wood Decor I made recently!
