the comfort of home

When dreaming of what our house could be I knew I wanted a home that felt inviting to others, giving them a sense of comfort and coziness. I have spent years finding the perfect piece for the perfect place, collecting decor for every room in our home (even when we did not own our home). One thing I know for sure. . . you do not need to spend a lot of money to make your home “Pinterest worthy.” Instead, your home should be however you wish it be, having the most important pieces being ones that mean something to you!

Everyone has a favorite room in their home. For us, it’s our sunroom. Throughout our house, our colors are mostly neutral; therefore, we liked the idea of adding color by purchasing “robin egg blue” couches for our sunroom lined with 15 windows. To leave a taste of coziness add a throw blanket or two, pillows, and curtains that let in just the right amount of light! Though we purchased our couches at a local furniture store on sale, I have found some great options for you too!

Adding tastes of your favorite interests or hobbies to your home allow your guests to know more about you and/or give them the opportunity to get to enjoy what you find enjoyable!

Brian loves beer, brewing beer, and knowing everything there is to know!

Whether your home has a fireplace, entertainment center, or area where people gather around, it is easy to place some of your most loved decor as the center of display! For our home, we used glass decor from our wedding day, decor purchased by my best friend, and some old Kansas decor that was once my grandmothers.

While the blanket was a gift from our wedding, and the basket was purchased at a flea market, it is easy to find the best home decor at some of my favorite places: HomeGoods, Wayfair, Hobby Lobby, and Target!

Needing a way to brighten up a room? Needing to make your room appear larger than it is? Simply add a mirror or two! I purchased this mirror from my aunt but you can find similar ones here!

My favorite way of adding a taste of comfort to your guests? Coffee. Brian and I have made an area in our dining room devoted all to our coffee. We love coffee and we love offering a fresh brew to our guests! Not a coffee lover? Always have wine on hand :).

My favorite way to add warmth to a normally blank space or wall is to add meaningful wall decor and a place to cuddle up with a good book. I kept this wall blank for a long time until I could find the perfect sign for the perfect price!

I am always looking for more ways for our guests to feel at home and after staying at a close friends home many years ago, I learned to have items readily available! We do our best to leave fresh cookies, clean warm sheets, a fan, some of our favorite books, and especially our wifi password in our guest room!

No matter the amount of space your home holds, make a space that you feel comfortable in. Your comfort will rub off on others and you find them coming back . . . whether you want them to or not haha!

What are some ways you find comfort in your home? I am always looking for new ways to add warmth and coziness to ours!

love always, kylie
